I started up a new blog. It's still very new. However, it won't be "nail focused", but it will contain some new Konad designs and nail stuff, along with other things like skin care, make-up, food & drink, hair, health, books and just random things really. Just whatever comes to mind.
So! If you come across this blog, this will be my last post here. And I will probably delete this blog in the near future (If possible).
If you're interested, here's my new blog. http://janearaneta.blogspot.com (= It's still in it's infancy stage, but I'm excited to put up new material and share with others.

The Notebook - Nicholas Sparks

My Reason:
Let me just say, that I LOVE THE NOTEBOOK! I actually saw the movie first before reading the book way back when it came out. And it was actually the movie of my choice when my BF and I started going out. I didn't know about the movie until AFTER a while the movie was released. My friend is a huge fan of Nicholas Sparks and she recommended this movie to me. So I thought, why not I'll watch it. And I just LOVED IT! And no, I didn't cry. Although the BF was expecting me to.
ANYWAYS, I've been meaning to read this novel for SOO long and finally picked it up from the library! I've also been wanting to read Nicholas Sparks' other novels as well. But so far, I LOVE The Notebook (it's probably my favourite romance movie). I wish I read the novel before watching the movie though. I noticed that after I see a Movie based on a Novel, and then read the Novel for the first time, it doesn't allow me to enjoy the novel as much! Probably because I already know what's going to happen and there's really no point in reading on. But I always get curious as to how different the novel is different from the movie.
Maybe I'll write my own love story based on me and my BF. Hahaha, well...maybe. But I do would wanna just journal in our experiences and my thoughts, and to just document our memories for myself. But I just didn't have a chance to I guess.

My Thoughts:
First of all, I'll try not to compare the novel to the movie...Even though I would probably end up doing so. But anyways, I thought The Notebook was easy to read, and it was just so light and hearty and full of love and romance. It's all about LOVE, and its miracles. If you've seen the movie, it's pretty much the same. The same scenes, and settings. I find that it is a bit more detailed as to how they lived their lives later on in their 40s and 50s and talked a little bit more about their own kids. Which I liked because, in the movie they didn't talk much about their own children. I also found that some parts were a bit different (like the love scene) and I think Noah's job before he went to the military and how he inherited money for the house. And other scenes that I can't remember.
Everything flowed very well, and it was easy for me to picture what the author was trying to express (or maybe it's because I saw the movie). It's just one of those young-loves turned to forever lovers. I like love stories, and romance and it's just fun to read! It makes me feel all mushy and lovey-dovey.

Quickie - Summer Dresses
I haven't been posting anything lately, 'cause I've been stuck with school and group work, assignments and now, exams are coming to a near. But since I was procrastinating again by looking at summer dresses rather than working on a group project, I decided to post some pictures of dresses I think are cute and refer back to them when I can finally go out there and do some shopping. =D
And if you know any good stores (preferably affordable and accessible to Canada) or styles of dresses that would look decent on a 4'11 petite girl let me know! And also give me some input on these dresses! (=

Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man - Steve Harvey

WHO, WHAT, WHERE:
I always watch Oprah Winfrey whenever I get a chance to. One episode was when Steve Harvey talked about his book and answered some of the audiences' questions. I've heard about his book before but I didn't really know what it was really about. When he was on Oprah it was very interesting listening on his perspective on love, intimacy and relationships. The book is mainly about knowing what guys are thinking and using that advantage to get what women want and to improve a relationship or improve in woman's chances of finding "Mr. Right" (in a nutshell). I usually borrow books from the library, and put this on hold before they arrived in the libraries.
The reason why I was curious in reading this book (besides the fact that he was on Oprah) was to also have another perspective of what guys think. And I've also been in a relationship for a little over 5 years now, and maybe it would give me some "answers" (even though, I didn't expect to take it too seriously). I also thought that it would give me an "inside look" of what men really think or feel.
PERSONAL THOUGHTS AND REVIEWS:
While reading Steve Harvey's book, I thought it was pretty interesting knowing a little bit of what the general males are thinking. I also thought some parts were pretty humorous, which made it enjoyable to read. However, after a while of reading it, I noticed that most of the topics he was talking about, (such as men meeting the kids, how to introduce the kids to a new man, what men think about commitment, how do you know a man is ready for commitment etc etc) is mainly towards female individuals who are planning on finding a man for commitment or even marriage. I think it's aimed more towards individuals who already have a career or steady job and are just looking to settle down.
One of my favourite parts was when he talks about how you would know if your man loves you, and mentions that if he Professes, Protects and Provides, he loves you. I also found that most of the information he provided is very broad and general and I doubt it would apply to every man out there. He also mentions how men, are generally simple human beings, and how women are just complicated. This topic was also interesting and funny as well, because some of the things he said were so true that it was just funny.
I guess it sort of gave me an insight on what guys really think (sort of, in-a-way). And some topics also applied to my relationship, which was very interesting. But anyways, it wasn't a long book and I thought it was fairly informative, but shouldn't be taken too literally. It was an easy read, and I finished it pretty quickly because I got excited in knowing what else Steve Harvey had to say about the next topics.
